Solid AAC is a Solid transcoder for creating m4a (AAC) files using the iTunes Plus specification. Solid AAC can work with almost any audio or video source. If the source file is an audio file the file will converted to AAC and if the source file is a video file Solid AAC will extract the audio stream and convert that to AAC.
When iTunes Plus is selected, output files will conform to the iTunes Plus specification. The conversion is done using Core Audio, Solid AAC creates a CAF (Core Audio File) and applies an iTunes sound check profile to it. Next this CAF file is used to create a high-quality AAC audio file.
But Solid AAC can do much more! You can use Solid AAC to create AAC files tailored to your needs. Some of the customisations include:
- Apply highpass and/or lowpass filters.
- Apply custom samplerates.
- Apply custom bitrates.
- Apply custom codec quality values.
